Snow:- The Cost

Before starting this blog it is only right to remember the family of the girl who was killed sledging yesterday. Those of us who enjoy adventures know that often the element of risk attached is what provides much of the fun and it is truely sad to hear of someone out to have fun being involved in a fatal accident like this.

I heard on the BBC yesterday that someone (who?) had estimated the economic cost of the snow this week as £3.5 billion. Unbelievable, you could buy a large bank for that right now. Where do these figures come from is my question. That much money equates to £58 for every man woman and child in the country. Where has it all gone? And more importantly whose got it now? Any recently opened bank accounts in the name J Frost should be investigated immediately.

On a more serious note: if you are one of the many who have bunked off work or school to have fun in the snow and feel guilty about how your actions have damaged the already critical British economy then can I suggest a way of making amends.
